(Requires a PC*Miler Web subscription with an add-on license for spreadsheets.)

A new, enhanced version of PC*Miler Web Services Spreadsheets is now available for download. This add-in for Microsoft Excel allows you to easily generate mileage, drive times, tolls, and location information directly within your spreadsheet program.

Rather than using locally installed data, the add-in calls information over the Internet from PC*Miler Web Services. This enables you to request the most current data or data from older versions of PC*Miler. Enhancements in the new spreadsheets version include:

New functions

  • =SetDefaultRegionWS( ): Sets the worldwide region (NA, EU, WW, SA, AS, OC, AF, ME) used for location searches. This setting helps prevent erroneous location matches in other regions, and it also may improve performance by reducing the search's scope.
  • =SetDefaultCountryWS( ): Sets the country (e.g. US, CA, UK, MX) used for location searches. This setting helps prevent erroneous location matches in other countries, and it also may improve performance by reducing the search's scope.

Improved features

  • Improved geocoding in older versions. When you use a version other than Current in the =MilesWS() function, our classic Web Services locations API will now be used to geocode the origin and destination. This improves alignment with mileage calculations in locally installed versions of PC*Miler.
  • Comprehensive examples and test cases. The download includes an Excel file titled Instructions and Samples.xlsx, which provides explanations of each function and sample calls using all available arguments.
  • Better performance. In addition to the new features, the overall performance of the add-in has been improved.
